Medical Insurance

TMU purchases the Comprehensive Insurance & Protection Scheme for Foreigners Staying in China of Ping An Annuity Insurance Company, Ltd. for all the registered international students every academic year. The teacher-in-charge will help students to make a claim under insurance policy

1. INSURANCE COVERAGE

It covers emergency, inpatient treatment (including outpatient operation, emergency observation, and emergency treatment), death (due to illness or accident), and disability due to accident. The policy does not cover outpatient consultation. But if anyone is diagnosed to be in a serious condition and hospitalization is needed (including outpatient operation, emergency observation, and emergency treatment), it is covered by the insurance. Medical institutions are limited to public hospitals in the mainland of China, and the insurance company is only responsible for the medical expenses within the scope of “medical services at state expense”.

2.  IN-ADVANCE PAYMENT FOR HOSPITALIZATION

If hospitalization is needed, before it takes place, the student concerned needs to call the Beijing Universal Medical Assistance Company (entrusted by Ping An Company), on 400 810 55119 and then press 1, to make a report, informing them of the name of the student as well as his/her university. The company will pay appropriate fee to the hospital as charge for treatment after confirmation.

3. OUTPATIENT AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL INSURANCE

If the insured needs outpatient or emergency medical service because of illness and therefore incurs a cost, the insurance company is liable for 85% of the payment that is beyond accumulative payment of ￥2000 RMB within each term of the insurance, maximum of ￥600 RMB per day and an accumulative maximum of ￥20000 RMB in total. The insurance liability shall terminate once the accumulative amount of payment reaches the sum insured for.

4. NUMBER OF TIMES CLAIMS CAN BE MADE

Within the term of insurance, no matter whether the insured is hospitalized once or several times, the insurance company would pay within the limit, but its liability will terminate once the accumulative amount of each payment reaches the sum inured for (￥40,000 RMB).

5.  PLEASE NOTE:

(1) Medical institutions are limited to only public hospitals;

(2) Medical expenses are limited to the items within the scope of “medical services at state expense” at the time;

(3) Receipts from the hospital must bear the correct name of the insured, either in English or Chinese;

(4) Collection of all the materials from the hospital must be complete, especially the medical record;

(5) If advance payment needs to be made by the insurance company to the hospital, please call them beforehand.
